OPEN Acrylics resist skinning on the palette during long painting
sessions and when painting outdoors. Thin applications of paint tack-up,
allowing additional layers to be applied and blended. Thicker
applications may be worked for hours, however paint over 1/16" thick
will dry EXTREMELY slowly.
Blend OPEN with regular GOLDEN Acrylics and Gel Mediums for any
application where faster drying is desirable. The drying time of OPEN
Acrylics decreases when painting over absorbent surfaces and increases
over sealed and non-porous surfaces.
Unique, relaxed working properties
GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics have a remarkably relaxed working property that
facilitates blending, softening, shading, glazing and fine detail. The
unique characteristics of OPEN Acrylics allow them to be used with
natural fiber brushes and for a range of techniques including
portraiture, plein air painting, monoprinting , and screenprinting.
4 mediums & 1 additive for ultimate control OPEN MEDIUMS
OPEN Mediums and Thinner help maximize working time of OPEN Acrylics.
OPEN Acrylic Gel (Gloss or Matte) can be used to adjust color strength
and translucency while maintaining consistency. OPEN Acrylic Medium
(Gloss or Matte) will lower paint viscosity for a more fluid mixture and
increased flow. OPEN Thinner helps maintain and adjust the workability
of colors on the palette without the use of water mist and moisturizing
palettes, unlike mediums and gels OPEN Thinner contains no binding
agents.
Compatible with GOLDEN products.
OPEN Acrylic colors, Gel and Medium may be blended with regular GOLDEN
Acrylics and Gel Mediums to alter opacity or consistency, while
shortening drying and working time. Conversely, the working and drying
time of regular acrylic colors can be extended by mixing OPEN Acrylics.
The rate of drying and curing will be proportionate to the mixture of
fast drying regular and slow drying OPEN products.
Because of the difference in drying times it is not recommended to apply
fast-drying products over wet layers of OPEN Acrylics as this can create
film irregularities.
