Sydney Albert Parker purchased Tesla Framing works in 1917, changing the name to S.A Parker Framing in 1920, going on the become the leading framers for Sydney and many Australian artists. The proximity of the framing business to The Bulletin and artists’ studios was the reason SA Parker Framers became the biggest suppliers of quality frames to the art community. Many of the frames made for those artists still hang today in the Art Gallery of NSW. Parker frames known grace the works of George W. Lambert, Hans Heyson, Grace Cossington-Smith and Margaret Preston. A record of S.A Parker framing was made in a recent book published by the Art Gallery of NSW after the donation of historical records and photographs to the AGNSW by the Parker family.
SA Parker Pty.Ltd. was renamed Parker Galleries, then to date as we are known as now
Parkers Sydney Fine Art Supplies and still is owned and operated today by
members of the Parker family within the Rocks Precinct of NSW, providing quality art supplies, stretching and framing to Australian and International artists.
